BREAK FREE FROM CHAINS OF BAD HABITS
Wells Hypnotherapist Helps Clients Discard Harmful Habits

Before being seated in a cozy recliner, her office appeared to welcome me, inviting, a real sense of comfort.  I was curious about the guided imagery and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) she spoke of, so decided to indulge with her complimentary session.

 Not knowing what to expect, and feeling a bit apprehensive, Pauline Derby, with her warm smile and engaging personality, quickly calmed my concerns.  Teaching me that I would remain in complete control, contrary to stage shows that unethically give the impression the volunteers are puppets, I felt more confident.  Derby is certified both as a Hypnotherapist, and EFT Instructor.  She owns JUST IMAGINE...Experience Guided Imagery, a new Wells business located in the Abenaki Professional Park on Route 1.

Derby explained Guided Imagery is a process of achieving profound relaxation while distracting the conscious mind (5% of your brain), thereby accessing the subconscious mind (95%), where all of our habits are managed and controlled.

"When you want to change a negative habit,  you have to work with the subconscious," she stated, or you will eventually repeat the negative behavior."

Emotional Freedom Technique,  (EFT) with roots in Chinese medicine, is a therapeutic process for releasing excess emotional charges found in the meridian (energy) lines.  Derby continued, it is often referred to as "Acupuncture for the Emotions".  The basic theory is that the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system.  By tapping softly on the meridian end, we release the blocked energy, thereby releasing negative emotions".

Derby led me through a tapping session;  within 15 minutes I felt my sad feelings dissolve.  My problem had lost its power over me; instead, I reclaimed the power over my problem.  I no longer harbored the awful feelings.  I was more than impressed.  "Does this work on any problem?" I inquired.  "Absolutely", Derby retorted, "try it on everything."

Derby then helped me relax into a deep trance, speaking softly to me through a microphone (we both wore earphones), delivering positive suggestions regarding my desired change, finishing with a post-trance affirmation reminding me of my chosen positive changes.  After the session,  I felt relaxed, yet energized.  I accomplished much, releasing sad feelings, then being reminded of positive changes - a feeling of well being and empowerment not experienced before.

Derby spoke of reclaiming my power, energy and spirit - mission accomplished!  I'm now a client.  Just imagine negative feelings you might release and the feel of confidence you might gain - give it a try!
