GUIDED IMAGERY - HUH?  Say What?
Printed in "Making It At Home" - March 10, 2004
Imagination - simple as that - how you use to daydream in school,  someone is speaking with you;  you are thinking of something totally different -because...you're bored - and feel like being somewhere else.  Imagination - an escape - a coping mechanism.  Without it, in some instances, we're prisoners of present time!  Remember as kids we lived in our imagination?

Imagination - imaging - imagery - expectation of what is desired with the motivations suggested to believe it to reality.

There are seven ways we "image" in our minds:

General imaging:  visualizing oneself as healthy, feeling confident, enjoying life - used for overall achievement instead of specific results.

Spontaneous imaging:  a thought without consciously requesting the image.  Recalling an incident at age seven, suddenly there you are,  seven again, reliving that incident as if it was present time.

Concrete imaging:  picturing something in detail that you want to happen/change in your life.

Abstract imaging:  seeing the object you most desire in front of a red circle with a red bar across the food - that's the universal sign for  "Refrain  From".

Process imaging:  visualizing a process by which the desired goal is achieved.

Induced imaging:  consciously choosing for a specific intent or purpose.

Guided imaging:  is scripted to bring about a specific scenario.

As you can see, there are many roads to "Imagining" for your highest benefit.  The use of Guided Imagery with positive suggestions intensifies the suggestion, making it much more powerful!   What you think and imagine in your subconscious mind tends to actualize, become reality.  In Mark 11:14, Jesus seems to speak that imagery with prayer causes the prayer to be more effective.   Albert Einstein stated "Imagination is your preview of coming events".  The mental picture you hold of yourself is what directs and controls you.  You can use your imagination to improve your life on every level and dimension.

There can be no reality without an image (thought) in the mind.  Want to change a habit, or lifestyle, change the image that the mind holds.  Guided imagery is an excellent way to achieve your desired, positive changes.  Change your mind,  change your body.  You're worth the investment!
